Samsung Odyssey G9 Curved Gaming Monitor Is Super Extreme
The Samsung Odyssey G9 Curved Gaming Monitor is 49″ Wide for an Outrageous Gaming Experience
Samsung is merging gaming monitors into their Odyssey Gaming brand and they plan for the Samsung Odyssey G9 Curved Gaming Monitor to be far ahead of your gaming rig. It is a bit extreme and if you aren’t up to the challenge you can opt for the more economical Samsung Odyssey G7 monitors. We’ll get into the aspects of both below.
But first, assuming your rig and budget can handle it, the Samsung Odyssey G9 gaming monitor is an extreme 49″ wide and boasts the first 5,120 x 1,440 ultra-wide display that brings a 240 Hz refresh rate and a 1ms pixel response time. So, extra-smooth performance and expansive, high-res visuals come standard with this beast of a monitor.
The Samsung Odyssey G9 is also one of the first gaming monitors with a 1000R curvature that pushes realistic graphics further into your peripheral vision.
If you already have a high performance gaming setup or if you are planning to expand, it’s going to be tough to push this monitor to it’s limits. Even with an Intel 9th-generation Core i7 or i9 processors and a Nvidia RTX 2080Ti graphics card, you will be playing at about 100 fps at “Ultra Graphic Settings” on the Samsung Odyssey G9 monitor with a 120 Hz refresh rate. So, the Samsung Odyssey G9 Curved Gaming Monitor may be somewhat of an overkill, at this point, but, it is an investment with plenty of growth potential.
If upgrading to this level is too much of a budget killer and you can settle for less screen view, you can opt for the more Samsung Odyssey G7 that offers 27″ and 32″ screen options at 2,560 x 1,440 screen resolution, while maintaining the 240 FPS, 1ms response time, 1000R curvature, FreeSync and G-Sync.
The monitors will be available in matte-black and glossy white. We can imagine the glossy white with the blue orb at the mount attachment is going to look like something out of this world!
